Rafael Cuartielles (Barcelona, 1932) es un auténtico maestro del arte contemporáneo. Su obra, entre otros matices, está llena de sensibilidad interior, de trazos esmerados, firmes y expresivos, de sensaciones puras, de ilusión, de dulzura cromática y de profundidad artística. Sencillamente, su técnica pictórica es exquisita.

 

Cuartielles comienza a tomar clases de pintura y dibujo al natural con Jacinto Olivé a la temprana edad de 12 años. Más adelante, entra a estudiar en la Acadèmia Baixas, una de las instituciones barcelonesas más importantes de la postguerra para, posteriormente, ingresar en La Llotja, la Escuela de Artes y Oficios de Barcelona, donde estudia la técnica del dibujo.

 

En 1962 obtiene una beca de la Diputación de Barcelona para completar sus estudios artísticos en la Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de París. Allí se mueve por los entornos más vanguardista de la época y vende toda su obra hasta el momento. Más tarde, ya de vuelta en Barcelona, compagina su prolífica actividad artística con la docencia en la Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Barcelona (1979-1998).

En lo referente a sus exposiciones, la trayectoria de Rafael resulta envidiable: realizó su primera exposición en 1952, habiendo expuesto en varias ocasiones en galerías de arte de París, Miami, Japón, Italia y España.

 

Su obra ha sido valorada por multitud de críticos reconocidos como José Vallés Rovira, Francisco Galí, Vicente Amiguet, José Arnau, Juan Luis Montaner, Pere Falcó, Josep Maresme, Luis Doñate, etc.

 

La obra de Rafael Cuartielles está representada en la Fundación Rodríguez Amat, en el museo de Los EEUU, “The Florida Museum of Hispanic and Latin American Art”, así como en la Colección de Arte del Banco de Sabadell.

 

Podemos encontrar su nombre en el Diccionario “Ràfols” de artistas contemporáneos de Cataluña y Baleares.

 

Gran parte de su obra es patrimonio de muchos entendidos y coleccionistas privados, tanto de España como del extranjero.

Rafael Cuartielles (Barcelona, 1932) is a true master of contemporary art. His work is full of inner sensitivity, firm and expressive strokes of pure sensations. Full of illusion, and chromatic sweetness, full of artistic depth. His painting technique is simply exquisite.

 

Cuartielles begins to take painting classes and life drawing with Jacinto Olivé at the age of 12 years. Later enrolled to study painting at the Acadèmia Baixas, one of the most important post-war Barcelona institutions. Later he enrolled in La Llotja, School of Arts and Crafts of Barcelona.

In 1962 he obtained a scholarship from the Diputació de Barcelona to complete his artistic studies in Paris.There he moves by the most avant-garde environments of the time and sells all of his work so far. Later, already back to Barcelona, Rafael combines his prolific artistic activity with teaching at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona (1979-1998).

 

Rafael Cuartielles’s work is represented in the Rodriguez Amat Foundation, at the USA Museum «The Florida Museum of Hispanic and Latin American Art» and at the Banco de Sabadell Art Collection.

 

We can find its name in the «Ràfols» dictionary of contemporary artists of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands.

 

Much of his work is the heritage of many connoisseurs and private collectors, both in Spain and abroad.
